Sleater-Kinney

Sleater-Kinney is an influential rock band formed in Olympia, Washington in 1994, named after a local freeway off-ramp. Originally a duo with core members Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein, the group expanded to a trio with the addition of drummer Janet Weiss, who joined in 1996. Renowned for their fiery brand of feminist punk-infused rock, Sleater-Kinney quickly became a central figure in the riot grrrl scene and indie rock at large. Their music is known for its incisive lyrics, potent guitar riffs, and the interplay of Tucker and Brownstein's distinct vocals.

The band went on hiatus in 2006 but made a celebrated return in 2014 with the album "No Cities to Love." Following Weiss’ departure in 2019, Tucker and Brownstein continued as Sleater-Kinney and released the introspective "Path of Wellness" in 2021. Through various line-up changes and evolutions in sound, Sleater-Kinney has maintained their standing as one of the most dynamic and essential acts in alternative rock. They are appreciated for their relentless energy, political engagement, and the transformative impact they have had on the landscape of modern rock music.
