David Puckett is a renowned music educator based in Texas. He began his teaching career in 1997 and has taught at both middle and high school levels. Notably, he opened South Keller Intermediate and Indian Springs Middle School in 2001. Puckett is known for his leadership in band programs, teaching beginner brass classes, and coordinating jazz bands, color guards, and percussion ensembles. His bands have achieved significant recognition, including consistent Superior ratings at UIL contests and multiple honors in national competitions. In 2014, the Indian Springs Middle School Band performed at The Midwest Clinic, and in 2016, they won the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band competition. Puckett has also led the Keller Middle School Wind Ensemble at notable events like the 2022 Texas Music Educators Association Convention.
Puckett is a recipient of the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Cup and has been recognized as a national finalist for Music and Arts National Educator of the Year. He is a member of several prestigious music organizations, including Phi Beta Mu and the Texas Music Educators Association. Puckett has presented clinics at various institutions and serves as a band consultant, clinician, conductor, adjudicator, and trombone performer. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and currently resides in Keller, Texas.
