The Vaselines

The Vaselines are a Scottish indie pop band formed in Glasgow in 1986. The band consists of Eugene Kelly (vocals, guitar) and Frances McKee (vocals, bass). They are best known for their 1988 single "Son of a Gun," which was later covered by Nirvana. The Vaselines broke up in 1989 but reunited in 1990 and have been active ever since. They have released four studio albums, the most recent of which is "Enter the Vaselines" (2010). The Vaselines are known for their catchy melodies, jangly guitars, and witty lyrics. They have been cited as an influence by many other bands, including Teenage Fanclub, Belle and Sebastian, and The Pastels.
