The Bookshop Band
The Bookshop Band is a British musical duo consisting of Beth Porter and Ben Please. They write and perform songs inspired by books, having released 13 albums since 2010 featuring collaborations with many authors. The band originated from a partnership with Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delights, an independent bookshop in the UK. Their music incorporates a variety of instruments including cello, harmonium, glockenspiel, guitars and ukuleles, creating a distinctive sound that blends folk and indie styles.
In 2024, The Bookshop Band is set to release their 14th studio album "EMERGE, RETURN," produced by and featuring Pete Townshend of The Who. The album includes songs inspired by works from authors like Philip Pullman, Margaret Atwood, and Robert Macfarlane. The band has toured extensively in the UK and abroad, performing in bookshops, libraries, and at festivals, garnering praise from notable figures in the literary and music worlds.
