Evaristo Felice Dall'Abaco was an Italian composer and violinist from the late Baroque period. Born in Verona in 1675, he studied music under Giuseppe Torelli and became widely known for his elegant and expressive string compositions. Dall'Abaco spent a significant portion of his career in Germany, where he served at the court of Maximilian II Emanuel, Elector of Bavaria. His music blends Italian melodic richness with French dance forms, making his concertos and sonatas especially appealing to fans of the Baroque era.
Dall'Abaco's works, including his concerti da chiesa and violin sonatas, showcase his mastery of counterpoint and his knack for lyrical phrasing. His compositions are less flamboyant than some of his contemporaries', but they’re full of charm and thoughtfully crafted detail. Though he may not be as widely known today as Vivaldi or Corelli, Baroque enthusiasts continue to appreciate Dall'Abaco’s contributions to string repertoire and his subtle, refined musical voice.
