The Rakers are a dynamic band from Baton Rouge, formed in 2013. The group consists of Alex Cook (guitar, keyboards, percussion, vocals), Lance Porter (guitar, vocals), Leon Lejeune (guitar, harmonica), Jamye St. Romain (drums), and Lewis Roussell (bass). Later, Anna Byars joined on drums, enhancing their harmonies and songwriting. Known for their energetic live performances and erudite lyrics, The Rakers blend garage rock, alt-country, power pop, and southern soul. Their discography includes notable releases like "Regina," "Number Five," "The Morality of Heart Transplants," and their latest album, "Quicksand," which marks their second release with Full-Tilt Records. The band's music is often described as a blend of burnished, bar room Americana with a jangly twist, reminiscent of The Hold Steady.
