Eric Woolfson was a Scottish songwriter, singer, pianist, and producer best known as the co-founder and primary lyricist of The Alan Parsons Project. Born in 1945, Woolfson played a pivotal role in shaping the band's distinct blend of progressive rock and orchestral pop throughout the late 1970s and 1980s. He co-wrote most of the Project’s biggest hits, including “Eye in the Sky,” “Time,” and “Don’t Answer Me,” and often performed lead vocals on their albums.
Beyond his work with The Alan Parsons Project, Woolfson pursued solo projects that blended music and storytelling, including a series of concept musicals such as “Gaudi,” “Gambler,” and “Edgar Allan Poe.” These works showcased his love for theatrical composition and extended the narrative-driven style he was known for. He continued producing and performing music until his passing in 2009, leaving behind a rich legacy of melodic, thought-provoking work.
