Virgin Prunes

Virgin Prunes were an avant-garde post-punk band that emerged from the vibrant and experimental music scene of Dublin, Ireland, in the late 1970s. Formed in 1977 by friends who would become known as Gavin Friday, Guggi, Dik Evans (brother of U2's The Edge), Strongman, Dave-iD Busaras, and Mary D'Nellon, the group was known for their unique theatrical stage performances and their challenging, often provocative, musical style. They stood out for their disregard for traditional song structures and their willingness to explore dark and complex themes through their art.

Their discography reflects a pioneering approach to sound and visual art, with notable releases like their first full-length album "…If I Die, I Die," which has seen a 40th-anniversary edition release, remasters of "The Moon Looked Down and Laughed," and the complex, multipart project "A New Form of Beauty 1-4." Virgin Prunes dissolved in the mid-1980s but their legacy endures, and they maintain a dedicated cult following. Their music, with tracks such as "Pagan Lovesong" and "Baby Turns Blue," continues to be celebrated and rediscovered, touching on themes that are timeless in their relevance and delivery.
