Mohanik

Mohanik is a Mongolian experimental rock band formed in 2004 by Davaajargal Tsaschikher (also known as Davaa) and his friends in Ulaanbaatar. The band is known for blending modern rock sounds with deep influences from Mongolia's nomadic heritage and spirituality, without relying on traditional instruments. Their music uses guitars to evoke rhythms reminiscent of traditional Mongolian lutes and draws inspiration from shamanic trance, Buddhist dance, and natural landscapes. Mohanik has been recognized as one of Mongolia’s most respected rock bands, winning several awards such as Best Vocals and Best Performance at the Mongolian Underground Music Awards and featuring in the documentary *Live from UB* that highlights their effort to forge a unique Mongolian rock identity in a global context.

Over the years, Mohanik has released albums like *100-n Undaa* (2009) and *At Amarbayasgalant* (2012), blending pentatonic scales with poetic structures to tell stories rooted in Mongolian cosmology and nature. They've performed internationally in China, Russia, South Korea, France, and Japan, steadily gaining attention for their sophisticated sound that represents a modern nomadic spirit. Their recent EP *Awakening:, Pt. 1* continues this journey of musical exploration rooted in Mongolia’s unique cultural landscape.
