Akiko Kiyama

Akiko Kiyama is a Japanese electronic music producer and DJ who has been active in the techno scene since the early 2000s. Born in Tokyo in 1982, Kiyama grew up surrounded by classical music but became fascinated with drum and bass as a teenager. She began producing her own electronic music in 2002 and has since released numerous EPs and albums on labels like Contexterior, Safari Electronique, and her own imprint Kebko Music.

Kiyama's sound blends minimal techno with experimental and avant-garde elements, often incorporating influences from her classical background. She has gained recognition as one of the most prominent female Japanese techno artists, performing live sets and DJing at clubs and festivals around the world. After spending time in Berlin to further her career, Kiyama returned to Tokyo in 2015 to continue evolving her unique style of electronic music.
