Tancredi Pasero

Tancredi Pasero was a celebrated Italian bass who left a significant mark on the opera world in the first half of the 20th century. Born in Turin in 1893, he became renowned for the richness and depth of his voice, as well as his commanding stage presence. Pasero performed at major opera houses across Europe, most notably at La Scala in Milan, where he was a frequent and beloved presence. His repertoire included many of the great bass roles, particularly in works by Verdi and Wagner, and he was known for his refined technique and expressive singing.

Pasero was especially admired for his interpretations of roles like King Philip in Don Carlo and Ramfis in Aida, and he often shared the stage with other legendary singers of his era. Though his active career slowed by the 1940s, his recordings have continued to earn him recognition among opera fans and historians. Collections such as the “Lebendige Vergangenheit” series help preserve and showcase his legacy, offering a glimpse into the golden age of Italian opera.
