Jaakko Kuusisto

Jaakko Kuusisto was a Finnish violinist, conductor, and composer known for his wide-ranging talents across the classical music world. Born into a musical family in 1974—his father was the celebrated composer Ilkka Kuusisto—Jaakko carved out a distinguished career of his own. As a violinist, he performed extensively, both as a soloist and chamber musician, and recorded a number of acclaimed albums, including interpretations of Bach’s violin works. He was also a sought-after conductor, notably serving as the chief conductor of the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to his performing career, Kuusisto was an accomplished composer, writing operas, orchestral pieces, chamber works, and film scores. One of his notable contributions was the music he composed for the 1919 silent film "The Song of the Scarlet Flower." His work was known for its emotional depth and melodic richness. Sadly, Jaakko Kuusisto passed away in 2022, but he left behind a vibrant legacy in Finnish and international classical music.
