Jim "Kimo" West is a Canadian guitarist best known for his long-standing role as the lead guitarist for "Weird Al" Yankovic, a position he's held since 1983. Beyond his work with Yankovic, West has carved out a successful career as a slack key guitar player, embracing the traditional Hawaiian style of guitar playing. He's released numerous solo albums in this genre and has received recognition for his work, including a Grammy win in 2021 for Best New Age Album with "More Guitar Stories". West splits his time between Los Angeles, where he has a private studio, and Hana, Hawaii, while maintaining his Canadian citizenship.
