The Bangles

The Bangles are an iconic American pop rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1981. Originally part of the city's Paisley Underground scene, the band was founded by sisters Vicki and Debbi Peterson, along with Susanna Hoffs, and later joined by bassist Michael Steele, following the departure of original bassist Annette Zilinskas. Known for their melodious harmonies and guitar-driven hooks, The Bangles achieved widespread fame in the mid-to-late 1980s through a series of hit singles including "Manic Monday," "Walk Like an Egyptian," "Hazy Shade of Winter," and "Eternal Flame."

Despite disbanding in the late 1980s, The Bangles reformed in the late 1990s and have continued to perform and record. Their album “Doll Revolution” released in 2003, marked their first new album after a decade-long hiatus, showcasing their evolving sound while maintaining their signature pop-rock essence. "Sweetheart of the Sun," released in 2011, is the group’s most recent studio album to date and reflects a matured perspective blended with their classic vibrant sound. Over the years, they have continued to reissue and expand their earlier works, with expanded editions of their early albums "Different Light" and "All Over the Place," pleasing both new listeners and loyal fans with remastered tracks and additional rare material. Notably, The Bangles have carved out a distinct place in music history with their infectious blend of pop-rock and their trailblazing role as one of the few all-female bands that both wrote their own songs and played their own instruments during a time of male-dominated charts.
