Bloodrock

Bloodrock was an American rock band founded in Fort Worth, Texas that carved a space for themselves in the early 1970s with a hard-edged sound that could best be described as a potent mix of hard rock and early heavy metal. Consisting of members Jim Rutledge (vocals), Lee Pickens (lead guitar), Nick Taylor (guitar), Ed Grundy (bass), Stevie Hill (keyboards), and Rick Cobb (drums), the band cultivated a following with their gritty and intense performances and storytelling lyrics.

Rising to prominence with their self-titled debut album "Bloodrock" in 1970, and gaining significant airplay with their morbidly evocative single "D.O.A.", the group released a series of albums peaking with "Bloodrock 2" and "Bloodrock 3". Their live shows were well received, something that the album "Bloodrock Live" documented adeptly, capturing the raw energy of their performances. Over time, the band's style evolved, yielding albums like "Bloodrock U.S.A.", "Passage", and "Whirlwind Tongues", which saw them experimenting with more complex arrangements and progressive elements. Despite a dedicated fan base and a respectable body of work, Bloodrock disbanded in the mid-70s after a brief but intense period of creativity and touring. They left behind a legacy that was celebrated years later with "The Bloodrock Reunion Concert", showcasing the lasting impact of their music on the hard rock genre.
