Heikki Ruokangas

Heikki Ruokangas is an innovative jazz and avant-garde guitarist, composer, and improviser from Oulu, Finland, born in 1987. His music explores a rich dialogue between melody and noise, smoothly shifting from delicate, soothing atmospheres to intense, almost violent avant-garde expressions. Drawing inspiration from avant-garde jazz, modern and traditional jazz, as well as Finnish musical heritage, Heikki has carved out a diverse sonic world that blends melodic sensibilities with atonal and experimental sounds. He has performed throughout Europe and the United States and has released over 20 solo and collaborative albums, including projects with acclaimed musicians such as Anne-Mari Kanniainen and Landon George.

Known for both his solo work and dynamic collaborations, Heikki's recent albums like *Live in New York*, *Braided Contrast*, *Intro to Hunting Gods*, and *3 In Waiting* showcase his range—from intimate acoustic improvisations to energetic free jazz fusion.
