Dewi Rees is a British organist with a vibrant and growing presence in the choral and organ world. Born in 1998, he began his musical journey as a chorister at Westminster Abbey at age 7, singing daily and performing at notable events. He later studied Music at Jesus College, Cambridge, where he was Organ Scholar and then Assistant Organist. Dewi has held positions at Bath Abbey as part-time Assistant Organist—working closely with both the Abbey and Kingswood School—where his musicianship and teaching left a strong impression. He is now Assistant Director of Music & Partnerships at St Albans Cathedral, where he accompanies choirs and leads outreach, continuing a connection that started with his previous role as Organ Scholar there.
Dewi is recognized for his confident, musical playing and has contributed to several recordings, notably including works by Bruckner and Grayston Ives. His recent projects include performing on the album "Bruckner: Motets" with St Albans Cathedral Choir, where his organ solos and accompaniments are featured prominently. Dewi is also known for giving regular organ recitals and collaborating with choral societies as a continuo player and repetiteur. His warmth, humor, and dedication have made him a respected and admired musician in both educational and cathedral settings.
