Tjaka is a genre-blending trio from Meanjin/Brisbane, made up of brothers Geoff and Jake Fabila and their close friend Felix Fogarty. The band’s name comes from the skin name “Tjakamarra” belonging to the Fabila brothers, who are descendants of the Jabirr Jabirr tribe from Western Australia’s Kimberley region. Their music fuses electronic, hip-hop, and funk with powerful Indigenous influences—creating a sound that’s both contemporary and rooted in their Aboriginal heritage. Known for their high-energy live performances and use of unique instruments like the Didjeribone (a slide didgeridoo) and the FaceBass (a seismic microphone), Tjaka have turned heads at major festivals such as Splendour in the Grass, Dark Mofo, and Woodford Folk Festival, and have even taken their sound overseas to the UK and Taiwan.
With the release of their debut EP, *Elevate*, in June 2025—featuring tracks like “Marching Band,” “In A Box,” “Aeronautics,” and “Elevate”—the group continues to push boundaries, offering a fresh take on modern music while staying true to their cultural roots. Fans and critics alike praise Tjaka for their infectious energy, genre-defying creativity, and their ability to bring audiences together through unforgettable live shows.
