Ingolf Burkhardt

Ingolf Burkhardt is a German jazz trumpeter born in 1963 in Baden-Württemberg, who began playing in brass bands by age nine before studying at Cologne's Music University. A longtime member of Hamburg’s NDR Big Band since 1990, he’s collaborated with jazz legends like Lionel Hampton, Al Jarreau, and Quincy Jones. Burkhardt blends technical precision with expressive warmth, whether leading his groove-focused project *Jazul* or appearing on releases like *Jazzed Friends* and *Vägen*. His career spans studio work with pop stars like James Last and Dieter Bohlen, alongside teaching at Hamburg's Music Conservatory from 2001-2008. Recent releases like *Fragrance of Chimonanthus praecox* and *Something I Said* showcase his signature mix of smooth jazz phrasing and dynamic big-band energy.
