Alexisonfire is a post-hardcore band hailing from St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, formed in 2001. The band’s name, a play on words, references the world’s only lactating contortionist stripper named Alexis Fire. Consisting of George Pettit (vocals), Dallas Green (guitar, vocals), Wade MacNeil (guitar, vocals), Chris Steele (bass), and Jordan Hastings (drums), they became known for their powerful live performances and a unique blend of post-hardcore with punk, emo, and screamo elements. The band's dynamic sound is characterized by the contrast between Pettit's visceral screams and Green's melodious voice, supported by MacNeil's backing vocals. This compelling mix helped set Alexisonfire apart in the early 2000s hardcore scene.
Throughout their career, Alexisonfire released several critically acclaimed albums, but announced a farewell tour in 2011 and disbanded shortly after. However, the band reunited for various live shows and festivals, and by 2019, they began releasing new music after a decade-long hiatus, delighting their fans with tracks like "Familiar Drugs" and "Complicit". Their most recent release, "Otherness" in 2022, showcases their evolution while still maintaining the raw intensity and emotion that have been the hallmark of the band’s sound. Alexisonfire's influence and legacy in the rock and post-hardcore genre remain evident, as they continue to attract a loyal fan base and bring their high-energy performances to audiences around the world.
