Metronomy is an English electronic music group formed in 1999 by Joseph Mount in Totnes, Devon. Initially a solo project of Mount, Metronomy expanded to include members Oscar Cash (keyboards, saxophone), Anna Prior (drums), Olugbenga Adelekan (bass), and formerly bassist Gabriel Stebbing who left the band in 2009. Known for their synthy, whimsical, and indie-pop soundscapes, Metronomy has carved out a niche for themselves within the electronic music scene with their distinct blend of experimental beats and catchy melodies.
The band made their initial mark with the release of their debut album "Pip Paine (Pay the £5000 You Owe)" in 2006, but it was their second album, "Nights Out" (2008), that earned them wider recognition. Metronomy's later works, including "The English Riviera" (2011) and "Love Letters" (2014), have continued to garner critical and commercial success, showcasing Mount's evolution as both a songwriter and producer. This evolution is reflected in the seamless blend of nostalgia and innovation in their more recent releases like "Love Factory," its accompanying remixes, and the catchy single "It's good to be back." With a discography that illustrates a journey through ever-shifting soundscapes, Metronomy remains a compelling force in the landscape of British music, marrying electronic artistry with an accessible, pop sensibility.
