Deathrow

Deathrow is a German thrash metal band originally formed in 1984, first under the name Samhain (1984–1986) before adopting the Deathrow moniker to avoid confusion with another band of the same name in the US. Hailing from Düsseldorf, they quickly became part of the early wave of German thrash metal, recognized for their energetic live shows and albums like *Riders of Doom/Satan's Gift* (1986) and *Raging Steel* (1987). Over time, Deathrow evolved from straightforward thrash into a more technical, progressive style, especially showcased on *Deception Ignored* (1989), which was praised for its complexity and innovation.

The band released four acclaimed full-length albums between 1986 and 1992, eventually ceasing activities in 1994 after a series of label disputes. Members like Milo (vocals/bass), Sven Flugge (guitar), Markus Hahn (drums), and later Uwe Osterlehner (guitar) shaped their sound, drawing comparisons to groups like Watchtower and Voivod. Although they faded from the scene, Deathrow remains a cult favorite among thrash enthusiasts, with remastered editions of their work—like the 2018 releases—keeping their legacy alive.
