Combichrist

Combichrist is an aggrotech / industrial metal project that was founded in 2003 by Norwegian vocalist and musician Andy LaPlegua, who is also known for his work in the bands Icon of Coil, Panzer AG, and Scandinavian Cock. With a name derived from the combination of the words "comic" and "Christ," Combichrist quickly solidified its presence in the realm of electronic and industrial music with a sound that is aggressive, relentless, and unapologetically blunt. Their music often combines elements of electronic dance music with harsh industrial soundscapes, featuring pounding beats, distorted synthesizers, and intense vocals.

The band burst into the wider consciousness of the industrial scene with their album "Everybody Hates You" in 2005, but it was later with the albums "What the Fuck is Wrong With You People?" (2007) and "Today We Are All Demons" (2009) that they cemented their reputation for a brutal and dance-friendly style. Over the years, Combichrist's sound has evolved, sometimes incorporating elements of metal and hardcore punk into their music, which can be heard in their more recent releases, such as the 2019 album "One Fire." Their energetic live shows and the charismatic presence of LaPlegua often engage fans in a cathartic and visceral experience. With tracks like "Guns at Last Dawn" and "Modern Demon," Combichrist continues to push the envelope of industrial music while maintaining their signature ferocious edge. The band has a devoted fan base and is known for their compelling remixes, such as the fresh takes on "Esther" and "A Lovely Day," showcasing their ability to reinterpret and inject new life into existing tracks.
