Not a Good Sign

Not a Good Sign is a progressive rock band formed in 2012 by producer Marcello Marinone, keyboardist Paolo Botta, and guitarist Francesco Zago. The project aimed to create a seventies-inspired style of rock music that is more accessible than the avant-garde chamber prog associated with their parent bands, SKE and YUGEN. The band's sound features a blend of vintage keyboards, synthesizers, and string ensembles, reflecting themes of despair and loneliness in their lyrics. Not a Good Sign's music is characterized by powerful symphonic prog elements reminiscent of King Crimson, Änglagård, and Anekdoten. The band's lineup includes Alessio Calandriello on vocals and Gabriele G. Colombi on bass, both from La Coscienza di Zeno, and Martino Malacrida on drums.

Some of their notable releases include "Icebound," "From a Distance," and their self-titled album "Not a Good Sign." Their music appeals particularly to fans of keyboard-oriented progressive rock.
