Naseer Shamma

Naseer Shamma is a virtuoso oud player, composer, and teacher, whose works have deeply influenced the world of Arabic music and lute performance. Born in 1963 in Kut, a city in Iraq, Shamma has established himself as a prodigious talent in the traditional and contemporary Middle Eastern music scene. A graduate of the Baghdad Academy of Music where he studied under the renowned Munir Bashir, Shamma went on to forge his own unique style, blending classical Arabic techniques with innovative approaches to the oud.

Throughout his storied career, Shamma has performed in prestigious venues worldwide, and his discography continues to grow, reflecting his dedication to cultural exchange and musical innovation. Among his most recent works, "Viaje De Las Almas. Travelling Souls" showcases his exceptional ability to convey profound emotional journeys through his compositions. "Maquamat Zíryáb - Desde El Eúfrates Al Guadalquivir" serves as a sonic exploration of the history connecting Eastern and Western musical traditions, signifying Shamma's commitment to bridging cultures through the universal language of music.
