Alexander Kagan is a distinguished violinist currently serving as the 1st concertmaster of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway, a position he has held since 2020. Prior to this, he was the 1st Concertmaster of Norrlandsoperan in Sweden and Associate Concertmaster at Bergen Philharmonic. He is widely invited as a guest concertmaster by major orchestras across Scandinavia, Europe, Asia, and the US, performing with ensembles such as the English National Opera and the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin. As a passionate chamber musician, Kagan performs at prestigious festivals including the Lucerne Festival and the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland. Since 2022, he has been the 1st violinist of the Bergen String Quartet. He plays a historic G.B. Guadagnini violin from 1780.
Kagan appears on the recent album *Mendelssohn X Files* alongside Uxía Martínez Botana, Sergey Ostrovsky, and Noémie Bialobroda, a project that creatively reimagines Mendelssohn's string quartets with a double bass replacing the cello, highlighting his versatility and collaborative spirit.
