Bitchin Bajas

Bitchin Bajas is an experimental music project that has skillfully woven its way into the avant-garde tapestry of contemporary soundscape artistry. Emerging from Chicago, Illinois, this group was initially formed in 2010 as a solo side project by Cooper Crain, the guitarist of the rock band Cave. The project quickly expanded into a trio with the addition of Dan Quinlivan and Rob Frye, transforming Bitchin Bajas into a collaborative endeavor that fluently fuses electronic music with psychedelic and ambient elements.

Their creative output is diverse and prolific, often characterized by synthetic textures and hypnotic drones that invite listeners into otherworldly auditory experiences. Over the years, their discography has grown intensely rich with a variety of releases that explore the intersection of organic instrumentation and meticulous electronic manipulation. Albums such as "Bajas Fresh" and "Bitchitronics" display their propensity for crafting elongated, meditative pieces, while collaborative works like "Epic Jammers and Fortunate Little Ditties" with Bonnie 'Prince' Billy showcase their ability to intersect with other genres and artists seamlessly. With the release of works like "Switched On Ra," an homage to Sun Ra, they continue to demonstrate a deep reverence for the visionary artists who have shaped experimental music’s past, while they, themselves, carve out a unique niche within its landscape.
