Born in Naples, Texas in 1906, Jones moved to Chicago in the mid-1930s where he became known for his distinctive piano style and emotive vocals. He recorded for several labels including Vocalion and OKeh, producing hits like "Lonesome Bedroom Blues" and "Highway 51 Blues." Jones continued to perform and record into the 1960s, including sessions for the Blue Horizon label. His music played a significant role in shaping the sound of Chicago blues during its formative years.
