Heera Group

Heera Group, also known as Heera Group UK, is a pioneering British Bhangra band that emerged in the early 1980s. Founded in 1979 by Satwant Singh Taak, the group quickly became one of the most successful and influential acts in British Bhangra history. Led by vocalists Palvinder Dhami and Jasvinder Kumar (known simply as Dhami and Kumar), Heera Group was among the first to blend traditional Punjabi lyrics with Western instruments, appealing to a new generation of British Asians.

The band achieved widespread popularity with hit songs like "Dowain Jaaniya," "Sus Kutni," and "Maar Chadapa." They toured internationally, bringing British Bhangra to global audiences, and even performed on mainstream British TV shows like Blue Peter. Heera Group's innovative sound and high-energy performances have earned them a lasting legacy in the Bhangra music scene, including a Lifetime Achievement award at the 2008 UK Asian Music Awards.
