Kacem Kafi

Kacem Kefi was a renowned Tunisian singer and composer born on August 5, 1945, in Sfax, Tunisia. His career took off in the early 1970s with a pop hit, marking him as a rising star. He began his journey at Radio Sfax alongside other notable Tunisian singers like Ahmed Hamza. Later, he joined a national choir troupe at Radio Tunis under the direction of Abdelhamid Ben Aljia. Kefi was not only celebrated for his singing talent but also for his contributions to preserving traditional Tunisian music. Some of his famous compositions include *Yamma*, *Hal Kamoun mnayn ya nana*, and *Ala bent el khala*, with over 580 songs to his credit. He was awarded as an officer of the Order of the Republic for his contributions.

Kefi's personal life included being married four times, and he faced a significant personal loss when his son passed away in 2012, which led to him becoming less active in music. He passed away on November 15, 2018, in Tunis.
