Breakout

Breakout was a foundational Polish blues rock band formed in 1968, emerging from an earlier group called Blackout. Fronted by guitarist/vocalist Tadeusz Nalepa and singer Mira Kubasińska, they became pioneers of the genre in Poland, blending raw blues energy with hard rock intensity across albums like *Blues* (1971) and *Karate* (1972) – the latter earning them a Golden Plate in 1974. The band weathered frequent lineup changes while touring internationally (including USSR and UK shows) and evolving their sound through records like *Kamienie* (1974) and *Żagiel ziemi* (1980), before disbanding in 1982 when Nalepa pursued solo work. Their legacy lives on through festivals honoring their contributions to Poland's rock history.

Though the band dissolved, Breakout's influence persisted – Kubasińska briefly returned to music in the 1990s before her 2005 passing, while posthumous tributes like the Breakout Festival (est. 2007) celebrate Nalepa's gritty guitar work and the band's role in shaping Eastern European blues-rock.
