Casino Steel (born Jan Groth in Trondheim, Norway) is a punk rock lifer with a knack for blending gritty storytelling and melodic hooks. A founding member of the influential UK-based band The Boys in the 1970s, he helped shape the early punk scene with their high-energy sound. After The Boys disbanded, Steel became a collaborative force, working with artists like Gary Holton (of Heavy Metal Kids fame) and carving out a solo career that leans into country-punk and barroom anthems. His recent work, including 2023’s *In Love Alone (The Nidaros Sessions 2023)* and the gloriously cranky *I Hate My Fucking Job*, proves he’s still got fire in his veins – serving up raw, working-class tales with a side of Norwegian charm. Whether covering classics like *Ruby (Don’t Take Your Love To Town)* or airing frustrations about day jobs, Steel’s music remains unapologetically real, fueled by decades of punk spirit.
