The Deathray Davies
The Deathray Davies is a Dallas-based indie rock band formed in the late 1990s by singer-songwriter John Dufilho. Originally conceived as a solo recording project, the band quickly evolved into a full ensemble, gaining attention for their catchy, fuzzed-out pop hooks and garage rock energy. Their name playfully nods to science fiction, but their sound is grounded in scrappy, melodic rock reminiscent of bands like Guided By Voices and The Apples in Stereo.
Over the years, The Deathray Davies have built a cult following with their dynamic live shows and a steady stream of engaging releases, including albums like The Day of the Ray and Return of the Drunk Ventriloquist. After an extended hiatus, they made a notable return with the album Time Well Wasted in 2021, proving they hadn’t lost their knack for crafting infectious, guitar-driven tunes.
