Catarina Munhá is a Portuguese singer-songwriter whose musical journey is as multi-faceted as the instruments she plays—everything from ukulele, piano, and guitar to violin and even tambourine has found its way into her creative process. From a young age, she was inventing songs, starting with the piano at age five and never looking back. By furnishing her Lisbon apartment with music—each room inspiring a new track—she transformed her private songwriting into a public act, eventually releasing her debut album *Animal de Domesticação* in 2019. This album is a personal map, with songs born in different rooms and spaces, and captures her curiosity and the fluidity between her roles as a doctor, researcher, and artist.
Her return to music with singles like *Cópia Pirata*, produced by Agir, marks a shout for freedom after a period of burnout and creative block during the pandemic. Through her music, Munhá explores themes of identity, connection, and self-liberation, continuing to use songwriting as her primary way of self-discovery and communication. Whether solo or collaborating, her work is deeply introspective, blending lyrical vulnerability with rich, textured instrumentation.
