Siebenbürgen

Siebenbürgen, a Swedish metal band named after the historic Transylvanian region, was known for its unique blend of melodic black metal with gothic and classical elements. The band was originally formed in 1994 by Marcus Ehlin and Anders Rosdahl, and quickly established a loyal following within the Scandinavian metal scene with their atmospheric and vampire-themed lyrics dovetailed with intricate guitar work and symphonic accompaniments.

Their discography boasts some notable albums that firmly entrenched them in the underground metal community. "Loreia," the band's debut album in 1997, set the stage with its darkly romantic and medieval sound, followed by "Grimjaur" in 1998 that continued the evocative storytelling and complex musical structures. In 2000, Siebenbürgen pushed the boundaries of their sound further with "Delictum," deepening the integration of gothic themes and extreme metal. "Plagued Be Thy Angel," released in 2001, saw the band experimenting with even more diverse musical elements while holding true to their roots. Their final offering, "Revelation VI," came out in 2008 and capped off the band's career with a powerful farewell that combined the essence of their previous work into a masterful culmination of their style. Despite going through various lineup changes, Siebenbürgen maintained a consistent vision, and after their disbandment in 2008, they left behind a legacy of being purveyors of dark, gothic stories set to the uncompromising force of metal.
