Juanse, whose full name is Juan Sebastián Gutiérrez, is a well-known Argentine rock singer and musician born in Buenos Aires on June 3, 1962. He gained fame primarily as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the band Ratones Paranoicos, a group he co-founded in 1983 and fronted until their initial split in 2011, with the band later reuniting in 2017. Influenced by rhythm and blues and especially by The Rolling Stones, Ratones Paranoicos became a cornerstone of Argentine rock, working with renowned figures like producer Andrew Loog Oldham and sharing stages with legends such as Keith Richards and Mick Taylor. Juanse has also had a solo career, performing with his band The Mustang Cowboys and continuing to release music, including live anniversary shows celebrating his career.
Raised in Villa Devoto, Buenos Aires, Juanse started playing guitar at age eight and by eleven he had already come up with the name for his future band. His father was a composer of classical music and his mother an art expert, which contributed to his artistic background. Known for his energetic stage presence and characteristic blues-rock sound, Juanse is considered a significant figure in Latin American rock music, with a career spanning decades marked by both band projects and solo endeavors.
