Ned's Atomic Dustbin is an English rock band that emerged from the Stourbridge scene in the West Midlands, which also spawned their contemporaries, Pop Will Eat Itself and The Wonder Stuff, in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Known for their distinctive fusion of punk rock energy, melodic inventiveness, and a dancefloor-ready rhythm section, Ned's Atomic Dustbin quickly made a name for themselves with their dual-bass sound, a rarity in rock music, and their energetic live performances. The lineup consisted of Jonn Penney on vocals, Gareth 'Rat' Pring and Matt Cheslin on guitars, Alex Griffin on lead bass, and Daniel Worton on drums.
The band gained significant popularity with their debut album "God Fodder" in 1991, which featured hit singles like "Happy" and "Kill Your Television," capturing the raw, youthful zeal of the era's alternative rock scene. However, it was their follow-up albums, "Are You Normal?" and "Brainbloodvolume," that solidified their place in the British rock pantheon. Although the group disbanded in 1995, Ned's Atomic Dustbin reunited in the early 2000s and continued to enthrall old and new fans with their energetic performances and new releases. They commemorated their ongoing legacy with albums like "0.522" and "Shoot the Neds!" and celebrated their reunion with the live album "Re:United (21 Years / 21 Songs) [Live at Wulfrun Hall]" which captures the raw energy and infectious enthusiasm that have been hallmarks of their celebrated live shows.
