Summoning

Summoning is an Austrian metal band formed in 1993 by Silenius (Michael Gregor) and Protector (Richard Lederer). The band is known for its unique blend of ambient, atmospheric black metal with a strong emphasis on Tolkien-inspired themes and soundscapes. Incorporating symphonic and epic elements, their music often conjures the vast, sweeping vistas and the rich mythological narratives found within J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. The duo's creative output has centered on forging an immersive sonic experience, framing black metal within the context of heroic fantasy and legendary tales.

Over the course of their career, Summoning has consistently expanded their musical territory while maintaining a signature style that is both recognizable and otherworldly. Albums such as "Minas Morgul" (1995) and "Lugburz" (1995) established their bold direction, but it was releases like "Dol Guldur" (1996) and "Stronghold" (1999) that solidified their status as pioneers in atmospheric black metal. With their later works "Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame" (2001), "Oath Bound" (2006), and "Old Mornings Dawn" (2013), they continued to refine their craft, attracting a dedicated following. Their latest offering, "With Doom We Come" (2018), showcases the band's unwavering commitment to their niche, delivering mesmerizing narratives through sound that resonate with their fanbase and continue to captivate new listeners in the expansive realms of metal and Middle-earth admirers alike.
