Ricchi E Poveri

Ricchi e Poveri, which translates to "The Rich and the Poor" in English, is an Italian pop music group that gained international fame in the 1970s and 1980s. The group originally formed in 1967 in Genoa and initially consisted of Angela Brambati, Angelo Sotgiu, Franco Gatti, and Marina Occhiena. Ricchi e Poveri is known for their harmonious songs, catchy melodies, and the blend of both male and female vocal elements. Their big break came in 1970 with their performance at the Sanremo Music Festival, and the group achieved their first major hit in 1971 with "Che sarà" in collaboration with José Feliciano.

Throughout their illustrious career, Ricchi e Poveri nurtured a diverse discography that oscillated from light-hearted pop tunes to romantic ballads, appealing to a broad audience across Europe and beyond. The group gained massive popularity with hits like "Sarà perché ti amo" and "Mamma Maria," with the former becoming an evergreen anthem of Italian pop culture. Despite lineup changes — Marina Occhiena left the group in 1981 — the trio of Brambati, Sotgiu, and Gatti continued to enjoy success, with their music evolving over the decades. The group remained active in the music scene with several compilation releases, such as "All the Best" and "I Grandi Successi: Ricchi & Poveri," and revisited their classics with new remixes and collaborations that introduced their timeless sound to new generations. With a career spanning over five decades, Ricchi e Poveri have solidified their legacy as icons of Italian pop music.
