NJWA, formerly known as Najwa Mahiaddin, is an award-winning vocalist and songwriter from Malaysia. Her journey in music began at a very young age; she started learning piano at three years old and took her first vocal lesson at nine. She pursued a music degree at Berklee College of Music, which significantly influenced her career. Before adopting the stage name NJWA, she released several albums and EPs, including the debut R&B and neo-soul album "Innocent Soul" and the EP "Aurora." Her music often blends traditional Malaysian and Chinese elements with modern styles, drawing inspiration from artists like Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and later from artists such as Little Dragon and James Blake.
As NJWA, she continues to innovate her sound, releasing songs that blend folk sounds with modern electronica. Notable releases include "Togok," which beautifully merges traditional folk with contemporary lyrics, and more recent singles like "Take Love Back." Her unique fusion has marked her as a prominent figure in modern Malaysian R&B.
