United Nations

United Nations is a chaotic hardcore punk/screamo supergroup known for blistering intensity and tongue-in-cheek political satire. Formed in the mid-2000s as a side project for members of established bands (rumored to include artists from groups like Thursday and Glassjaw), they’ve maintained anonymity due to legal disputes over their name with the actual United Nations organization. Their sound mashes frenetic screamo with grindcore urgency, often laced with dark humor critiquing war, capitalism, and media culture. Releases like their self-titled 2008 debut and *The Next Four Years* (2014) deliver short, explosive tracks that feel like protest anthems cranked to apocalyptic volumes.

Despite their cryptic lineup and sporadic activity, United Nations built a cult following for their unapologetic noise and subversive ethos. *Never Mind the Bombings, Here’s Your Six Figures* (2020) continued their tradition of sardonic titles and scathing social commentary, blending raw aggression with sly wit. They’re basically the musical equivalent of a Molotov cocktail thrown at a boardroom meeting—loud, messy, and weirdly cathartic.
