Rawlins Cross

Founded in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, Rawlins Cross is a name that has become synonymous with the fusion of Celtic traditional music and rock. Formed in the late 1980s, the band has carved out a unique niche within the Canadian music scene, seamlessly blending bagpipes, mandolins, and fiddles with electric guitars and drums. The band comprises an ensemble of gifted musicians, with the core usually featuring the talents of brothers Dave Panting (mandolin/guitar), Geoff Panting (keyboards/accordion), and Ian McKinnon (highland pipes/tin whistle), as well as a revolving lineup of supporting artists to bring their dynamic sound to life.

Rawlins Cross reached a significant level of success during the 1990s, producing a number of much-loved albums such as "Reel 'n' Roll" and "Crossing the Border," which helped to define their eclectic sound. Following a brief hiatus in the late 90s and early 2000s, the band reunited and continued to release new material, including albums like "Anthology," a collection that highlighted the band’s journey and evolution. Their recent work, such as “Flying Colours” and “Heart Head Hands,” illustrates their ongoing commitment to crafting music that honors their roots while also looking forward. With their vibrant mix of instruments and genres, Rawlins Cross continues to captivate audiences and assert their place in the rich tapestry of Canadian folk-rock music.
