Miss June

Miss June is a raucous indie-punk band hailing from Auckland, New Zealand that has carved a niche in the punk and alternative rock scenes with their vibrant fusion of noise and melody. Fronted by the charismatic and enigmatic Annabel Liddell, who doesn't just sing but seems to command the stage with a unique blend of ferocity and finesse, Miss June has been likened to a blend of "The Breeders meets Courtney Barnett". With the razor-sharp guitar work of Jun Park, the thunderous bass lines of Chris Marshall, and the incessant energy of drummer Tom Leggett, the group formed during their university days and quickly earned a reputation for their explosive live performances.

Their 2019 debut album, "Bad Luck Party," effectively captures the intensity of their live shows and acts as a testament to their dynamic and multifaceted sound. Singles like "Best Girl" and "Twitch" exhibit a mix of punk tenacity and pop sensibilities, with lyrics that deliver both incisive social commentary and biting humor. Miss June's music often delves into themes of empowerment and self-determination, with the EP "Matriarchy" serving as a bold statement on female strength. Their collaborative efforts, such as "Miss June x Astro Children," showcase their ability to blend seamlessly with other artists while maintaining their distinctive edge. With critical acclaim and a growing global fanbase, Miss June continues to defy expectations and push the boundaries of the punk genre.
