Mc Mugz

Mc Mugz, also known as Masta Mugz, is a pioneering Bangladeshi rapper, songwriter, and producer who played a crucial role in putting Bangla hip-hop on the map. Starting his career in early 2000s Dhaka, he was a founding member of the influential hip-hop group Deshi MCs, releasing their acclaimed debut album *Banned Version 1* in 2006. Later, he formed another major crew called Jalali Set, with whom he dropped the significant album *Level 13* in 2016 and continued to experiment with his sound. Mc Mugz is known for his positive messages and dedication to uplifting underground Bangladeshi rap talent through projects like *Root Bangla*—his first song from that project, "Ustha Pickup," gained notable success. Besides being an artist, he has also served as a judge on Bangladesh's first hip-hop TV reality show, *Detos Rapstar*, and currently hosts a rap battle show, *Dorbar*, helping nurture the country's hip-hop culture.

With recent releases like *Banglish Trip*, *Bankas*, *Kon Se Para*, and *Ustha Pickup*, Mc Mugz continues to innovate and shape the scene, blending Bangla and English in his lyrics while maintaining a distinct style. His early years studying in New York influenced his passion for rap, and his return to Bangladesh sparked a movement that helped invent and develop the Bangla rap genre. As a respected figure in the community, Mc Mugz’s work spans decades of significant cultural contribution in Bangladesh’s music landscape.
