James Mollison is a saxophonist best known as a key member of the London-based jazz quintet Ezra Collective, which made history in 2023 by becoming the first jazz act in 31 years to win the Mercury Prize for their acclaimed album *Where I’m Meant to Be*. Mollison, who graduated in 2017 from Middlesex University with a degree in jazz, joined the group after connecting with his bandmates through the Tomorrow’s Warriors youth jazz program. His soulful, expressive saxophone playing has become a signature element of Ezra Collective’s vibrant sound, blending jazz, afrobeat, and soul influences, and has helped propel the group to performances at major venues and festivals like Glastonbury and Strictly Come Dancing.
While Mollison is most recognized for his work with Ezra Collective, he is also an active collaborator and featured artist in other projects such as Footshooter’s track "Cycles," released in 2025. His recent releases, including singles like "At Dawn," "Cycles," and "Coming & Going," reflect his versatility and ongoing contributions to the evolving London jazz scene.
