Tapu Mishra

Tapu Mishra was a beloved Indian playback singer known primarily for her work in the Odia film industry, also called Ollywood. Born on January 11, 1985, in Sambalpur, Odisha, she started her musical training early under the guidance of Prabhudatta Pradhan and Gyan Ranjan Mohapatra. She earned a music degree from Sambalpur University and further honed her skills at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Tapu made her singing debut in the Odia film *Kula Nandan* (1995) and went on to lend her voice to over 150 films and more than 500 songs, including popular tracks from movies like *Mate Ta Love Helare*, *Dream Girl*, and *Love Dot Com*.

Her versatile singing extended beyond Odia to Bengali, Hindi, and other regional languages, earning her four State Film Awards during her career. In 2018, she married actor Deepak Pujahar. Tragically, Tapu Mishra passed away at the young age of 36 on June 19, 2021, due to complications from COVID-19. Her sudden loss was deeply mourned by the Odia film community and fans alike, with tributes pouring in from prominent figures such as Odisha's Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
