Slow, also known as DJ Slow, is the stage name of Vellu Maurola, a Finnish DJ and music producer born in 1975 in Vantaa, Finland. He is best known for his nu-jazz style, blending jazz influences with hip hop and electronic music elements. Maurola started his career inspired by hip hop legends like Run-DMC and Public Enemy, and he won the Finnish DMC Mixing Championships four years consecutively from 1992 to 1995. He was a founding member of the band Pepe Deluxé, which mixed big beat, trip hop, and hip hop, gaining international recognition with their debut EP and album releases in the late 1990s. Alongside his band work, Slow has also created commercial music for advertising in TV and cinema.
