Jennifer Lara was a soulful Jamaican vocalist who became a standout voice at Clement "Coxsone" Dodd's legendary Studio One label in the 1970s. Known for her smooth, emotive delivery, she blended reggae with lovers rock and gospel influences, as heard in tracks like the uplifting *Love Lifted Me* and the breezy *Weekend Loving*. Though she started as a backup singer, her talent shone on solo releases like the 1979 album *Studio One Presents Jennifer Lara*, which cemented her status as a roots reggae favorite. Her music, including later compilations like *Sound Box Essentials (Platinum Edition)*, remains cherished for its warmth and timeless grooves, keeping her legacy alive in the Studio One canon long after her passing in 2005.
