Ettore Stratta

Ettore Stratta was an Italian-American musician, composer, conductor, producer, and music industry executive. Born on March 30, 1933, in Cuneo, Italy, he studied piano and composition at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Stratta's career spanned multiple genres, including classical, jazz, and popular music. He worked as an A&R executive at Columbia Records in the 1960s and was instrumental in securing a contract for Wendy Carlos's groundbreaking album *Switched-On Bach*. Stratta produced albums for notable artists such as Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, and Al Jarreau. He also conducted for major orchestras like the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and was involved in numerous recording projects, including his famous *Symphonic Elvis* album.

Stratta's work often combined different musical styles, as seen in his *Symphonic* series, which included *Symphonic Lloyd Weber*, *Symphonic Tango*, and *Symphonic Evita*. He received several accolades, including a NARAS Legendary Producer's Award in 1998. Stratta passed away on July 9, 2015, at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy of innovative musical productions and collaborations with renowned artists across various genres.
