Saratan

**Saratan** is a Polish band from Kraków, formed in 2003 by Jarosław Niemiec, Wiktor Niemiec, Adam Augustyński, and Maciek Dudek. The band's name, which means "Cancer" in Arabic, reflects their unique blend of styles. Initially starting as a thrash metal band, Saratan evolved to incorporate elements of Middle Eastern music, utilizing instruments like the saz, tar, and darbuka, which are characteristic of the region. Their music transitioned towards an oriental metal sound, blending these Eastern influences with heavy metal elements.

Saratan's discography includes albums like "The Cult of Vermin" and more recent releases such as "Nabatea" and "Dark Orient." The band has undergone lineup changes over the years, with notable shifts in the drumming position, involving Wiktor Niemiec and Michal "MiSha" Drozdowski. Despite these changes, Saratan remains active, continuing to explore and refine their distinctive sound.
